Equals

Equals is a mobile platform that aims to foster neighbourly connection and address the issue of food waste. Aimed at urban Millennials, Equals allows users to connect with those nearby to combine food ingredients and collaborate on a meal.

Open the fridge to find a lonely eggplant? Grab it and that can of tomatoes and head over to Tom’s, with his forlorn mozzarella and tomato passata. A glass of wine, a chat, some quick cooking and voila: eggplant parmigiana and a new friendship!

Equals aims to be a new kind of social media. Combining a social conscience with playful humour and an engaging interface design, it counters the atomising and isolating tendencies of contemporary life by fostering connections between neighbours in the physical world. While building community, it also addresses the $8b worth of food Australian households throw out each year.
