To be a successful teacher, it is important to be resilient and motivated.
Indeed, there is never a dull day at school and with that, teachers are faced with different challenges every day.
What inspired you to become a teacher?
The best teacher I have ever had in school had made a lasting impact in my life. She was able to look past my mischief and inspired me to reach my full potential, and I want to do the same for our future generations. I wanted to be able to make learning a fun experience for children and to inspire them.
How did your time at UTS prepare you as a teacher?
UTS has helped me acquire the skills and knowledge I need in order to be a confident teacher. There is nothing that could fully prepare you for the life of a teacher until you live it yourself. However, UTS was able to prepare me with skills that I need to do well as a teacher and to provide opportunities for me to experience different schools during my degree so that I have a good understanding and expectation of what awaits me on the other side.
What advice do you have for those considering becoming a teacher?
Don’t lose sight of the reasons why you want to be a teacher in the first place.
What attributes do you consider important to become a successful teacher?
Personally, I think that to be a successful teacher, it is important to be resilient and motivated. Indeed, there is never a dull day at school and with that, teachers are faced with different challenges every day. It is very important to recover from your day-to-day challenges and always start a new day with a positive attitude. A teacher is always going to be setting the mood for the classroom, so it is so important to walk into class motivated and be passionate about what you are teaching because your students can feel how you feel.
