Am I eligible?
For the C04370 Executive Master of Data Science and Innovation applicants must have one of the following:
- Completed Australian bachelor's degree, or overseas equivalent, or higher qualification, in a relevant discipline (listed below) AND a minimum of five (5) years full-time, or equivalent part-time, management work experience AND among all work experience, a minimum of two (2) years in a relevant professional occupation (listed below).
- OR Completed Australian doctorate, master’s degree, graduate diploma, graduate certificate, or honours degree, or overseas equivalent, in a relevant discipline (listed below) AND a minimum of five (5) years full-time, or equivalent part-time, management work experience.
- OR Completed Australian bachelor's degree, or overseas equivalent, or higher qualification AND a minimum of five (5) years full-time, or equivalent part-time, management work experience AND among all work experience, a minimum of three (3) years in a relevant professional occupation (listed below).
Applicants who do not fully meet the work experience requirements may still be considered for an offer. Those applicants may be requested to attend an interview to verify their career seniority and to assess their suitability for the course.

Supporting documentation to be submitted with the application:
- Curriculum Vitae or electronic portfolio or professional profile AND a Statement of service in one of the following formats:
- A 'Statement of Service' provided by the employer
- A completed 'UTS statement of service’ signed by the employer
- A statutory declaration confirming work experience (for Australian Residents only)
- An official letter from the applicant’s accountant or solicitor on their company letterhead confirming the applicant’s work experience or engagement with the business, duration of operations, and the nature of the business
- A business certificate of registration in original language and English (e.g. provision of ASIC documentation or ABN or similar documentation for Australian Businesses)
- Applicants may also submit an optional personal statement, providing additional information to support their application, such as motivation, demonstrated interest, knowledge, skills, experience, understanding / awareness of the course requirements and expected commitment to complete the course, and a future plan to pursue an executive career / position in data science.

Recognition of prior learning
No recognition of prior learning is considered for the C04370 Executive Master of Data Science and Innovation - however for the other courses within the Data Science and Innovation suite, RPL may be taken into consideration.
What if I don't have the skills / experience in maths, stats, coding or programming?
Basic knowledge in maths and statistics is assumed. Coding or programming experience will help but are not required. If you feel that your skills aren’t up to speed, we recommend taking relevant short courses or using one of your electives in your first semester.

Note: Commonwealth supported places are not available for the Data Science and Innovation courses.

FEE-HELP
If you do have to pay a fee and you’re a local student, you may be eligible for FEE-HELP, an Australian Government loan scheme. Using FEE-HELP means you don’t have to pay for your tuition fees up front. More information can be found at uts.edu.au/government-help-schemes.
You can choose to repay your FEE-HELP loan simply by notifying your employer who will then withhold your payments through the PAYG tax system. You can also make payments directly to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).

How long do the courses take to complete?
Our programs are designed to be as flexible as you need.
The C04370 - Executive Master of Data Science and Innovation is a 1-year full-time or 2-year part-time course.
And depending on your qualifications and work experience, our C04372 - Master of Data Science and Innovation is either 2 years OR 1.5 years in duration (full-time) - and the part-time equivalents.
The only requirement is you must do at least one subject in your first semester.
When are classes held?
Classes are usually held after 6.00pm on weekdays and all-day Saturdays. They’re also not held every week, so a typical subject may have three evenings (6-9pm) and two Saturday session (9am-5pm) over the semester. A full-time load is three subjects, so it is possible to schedule class around full-time work. What students usually find the most challenging is finding time for assessments and other pre-class work, which is often why students elect to study part-time.

What is the teaching style?
Our Data Science and Innovation courses are delivered via a blended mode, which means there are classes held on campus, where students get the opportunity to network and learn from renowned academics. Students are also expected to use online content outside of class to carry on working both independently and collaboratively.

Can I get recognition of prior learning?
The maximum amount of credit the Transdisciplinary School allows for recognition of prior learning is one-half (50%) of the total course credit point requirement for a postgraduate course.
Recognition of prior learning is not granted for Graduate Certificate and Executive Master of Data Science and Innovation.
