This series of CSARM short courses is tailored to meet the growing demand for skilled environmental professionals in the multidisciplinary Contaminated Site Assessment, Remediation and Management field.
Developed by the School of Life Sciences at UTS Faculty of Science, in collaboration with the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) and industry experts, this program has successfully trained environmental professionals for the past 14 years. It aims to deepen participants’ knowledge, update their skills, and cultivate valuable professional networks in industry and government.
CSARM program overview
There are five modules in the CSARM series, each lasting between 2.5 to 3 days. The flexible and interactive learning program combines lectures, case studies and workshops. You can choose to attend either online or in-person, with three modules offering optional field trips.
Each module is led by experienced professionals and features at least six different presenters. They cover the latest NSW EPA and National Environment Protection Measures (NEPMs) guidelines, new legislation, and the technical and scientific aspects of contaminated land management.
Each module is offered only once a year and is designed to function as a stand-alone course, allowing participants to take them in any order. Completing all five modules ensures comprehensive coverage of the subject.

Our presenters include regulators from the NSW EPA, academic specialists, contaminated site auditors and experts in environmental law and risk assessment.
Professional development
The CSARM Short Courses contribute to your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) goals. For instance, the EIANZ CEnvP Contaminated Land Specialist scheme requires 100 CPD points over two years. On average, a CSARM module earns you at least 42 points, while course presenters can claim five points per hour for face-to-face instruction. Course venue
All modules will be held at the UTS City Campus, with online attendance available via Zoom. Most presenters will be on campus to facilitate lectures and workshops.

Modules A, C/D and E — 3-day modules (including field trip)
- AUD $2,300 per person
- AUD $2,070 early bird price
- Online only: 12% discount for online attendance (field trip excluded)
Modules B and F — 2.5-day modules (no field trip)
- AUD $2,000 per person
- AUD $1,800 early bird price
Note: Early bird registration closes approximately two weeks before each course.
Discounts
- 13% discount when booking two or more modules simultaneously – for individuals or group bookings for people from the same organisation
- 10% discount for members of qualifying professional societies (e.g., ACLCA, EIANZ, Engineers Australia, Soil Science Australia).
