Joy Jadeja
By the time you finish, and before you realise it, you'll be thinking like a lawyer.
Joy Jadeja comes from a family of lawyers and for as long as she can remember, she wanted to pursue the same career.
She studied the UTS Bachelor of Law, Bachelor of Business combined program and graduated in 2015 with the skills she needed to kick-start a fulfilling career.
“UTS Law is unique in that you can fast track your studies. Being able to complete my Practical Legal Training as part of the degree allowed me become qualified 6 months ahead of schedule.”
Joy says UTS allowed her to explore different subject areas, learn from experts in diverse fields, and explore her own passions, which enabled her to shape a unique academic and professional career.
Now a practising solicitor at private firm, Westside Legal, Joy has a wealth of professional experience and she’s gaining recognition. In 2017, she was a nominee for the NSW Law Society President’s Award, and in 2019 she was a finalist in the Lawyer's Weekly 30 Under 30 Pro Bono Category.
“Pro bono work is my true passion. Being able to help people that really need it and just can't afford it has been the most rewarding part of my career. At my core, I'm all about social justice, and I'm grateful to have a qualification that can help achieve this.”
Joy attributes her fantastic education experience to UTS Law’s teaching staff, and says her lecturers and tutors were engaging and always accessible.
“They made complex subjects interesting and always welcomed questions with their open-door policy. The way UTS teaches, your knowledge and ability to apply the law is so ingrained that it becomes second nature.”
