I’ve received a truly holistic education at UTS
The most rewarding part of my law degree so far has been involvement in all of the extracurricular activities that UTS:Law has to offer. From the Law Students’ Society and legal skills competitions, to the Brennan Justice and Leadership Program, I’ve received a truly holistic education at UTS. I’ve valued learning inside the classroom as much as outside the classroom.
On practical experience placements/extra-curricular activities, I’ve gained incredible insights into the many directions a law degree can take you. Over the past 5 years, I have been lucky to be a part of a number of diverse organisations, including community legal centres, policy organisations and plaintiff and commercial law firms. They’ve shown me the wide variety of careers a law degree at UTS can lead you to.
My advice to future law students is to try everything and to take the opportunities while they’re there. At UTS, the Brennan Justice and Leadership Program is unique to UTS:Law. It is an incredible opportunity for law students to understand the pillars of the legal profession – justice and service – and to use the skills that they are developing to give back to the community. Getting involved in the Brennan Program was one of the best things I did at university, and would be my number 1 piece of advice to future law students.
