Before starting at UTS, I ...
I was a high school student eager to be accepted in UTS Law, to combine my passion for the humanities and social justice. I wanted to make a difference in the world with my career while also exploring my creativity so I applied for the double degree of Communication(Media Arts and Production)/ Law, and worked hard through high school to achieve a place.
I wanted to study law because ...
I always dreamed of contributing to the world, and fixing the 'wrongs' and injustices growing up. This was a big dream but I know I can do my part of this goal by studying law. I wanted to study law to use my skills in public speaking and my interest in the field to hopefully one day be successful, and that will be when I know I have made a great difference in the world.
I decided to study at UTS as I...
I decided to study law at UTS due to their heavy emphasis on social justice and practical learning. UTS provides a great environment and community that is close knit and focuses on providing the practical skills a law student needs as well as the theory. Moreover, I was convinced by the many double degrees UTS offered to combine with law, allowing me to pursue my creative interests as well as law.

So far the most rewarding part of my law degree has been the close knit peers I've made as well as the extracurricular offered alongside the law study. I have been able to engage with the law faculty with my studies, and also through programs such as the Brennan Justice and Leadership Program and through the Law Representatives.
On practical experience placements/extra-curricular activities, I’ve gained...
In my first semester of studying UTS Law I have been able to participate in the Brennan Justice and Leadership program, which I will continue to partake in for the rest of my degree. This allows me to gain a wider understanding of social justice issues and to contribute to making a difference to them. The events organised by the Law Student's Society has also been a great extracurricular bonus to studying law as well.

Looking forward I hope to be involved in the legal industry as a lawyer, but I do not plan to restrict myself. With 4 years of my degree to go, I want to find my passion during my degree and see where the opportunities take me in the future. Hopefully allowing me to live a positive life while contributing change to the world.
My advice to future law students is ...
My advice to future law students would be to enjoy every moment you have in law, the good and the bad as the hard times come with its rewards. Law is an eye-opening experience which will give you a great understanding of the world, while you create a close knit community of peers at UTS.
