What position do you currently hold and where? I am the Manager Workplace Relations for a NSW Government Health organisation
What does your job involve? I overview Strategy for Industrial Relations, Human Resource Management, and Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre.
What led you to choose UTS:Law for your studies? The courses are very down to earth and are aligned to the needs of the business world. The classes, particularly the block study units are accessible for full time workers and the lecturers are industry based and professionally experienced
Was your decision to study the Master of Dispute Resolution to advance your current career path or a career change? I had completed my Masters of Employment Relations at UTS and enjoyed the Graduate Certificate in Dispute Resolution. It was a natural to develop my Mediation training with the Masters Degree.
How have your studies at UTS contributed to your career as a whole? How have they informed the way you work? Studies at UTS have allowed me to progress in my chosen career and then develop further to move into a new career focus of Alternative Dispute Resolution
What was the most rewarding aspect of your degree? Why? Meeting the professional lecturers, visiting speakers from industry and liaison with colleagues.
What is the most useful or important thing you have learned from your studies at UTS? That study can be managed within a working life, and even enjoyed.
What would your advice be for someone who is looking at studying Law at UTS? - Identify your interests, build a curriculum which aligns with your professional aspirations, don't be afraid to experiment.
Is there anything else you’d like to add about your experience at UTS:Law, or the University as a whole? Being an inner-city campus it is vibrant and relevant and accessible.
