I find the idea of working with a professional sporting team to improve performance exciting.
I have always enjoyed physical activity and have participated in a variety of sport at recreational and elite levels. I grew up with my parents, younger brother and dog. My family (besides mum) are very interested in sport…especially the NRL, where we are die hard Roosters fans. My schooling journey defined the person I am today. I started school younger than my cohort and in year 4 my parents decided I should repeat to be at the same schooling level as my peers. Looking back, it was the best decision my parents could have made for me. It gave me the confidence to make new friends at a school with established friendships. My academia continued to excel with hard work and a thorough work ethic I become a high achiever and achieved my goals toward the end of high school.
I was inspired to study sport and exercise science as I thoroughly enjoy sport and I find the idea of working with a professional sporting team to improve performance exciting. I was also inspired by my father who always said that he regretted not following his passion of sport and I didn’t want to make the same mistake. In the future I would love to work with a professional sporting team as their physiotherapist and potentially work in a private practise.
I am passionate about keeping my life balanced between study, work and play. I definitely enjoy being around the people that I love who make me feel like I am being the best version of myself. I also enjoy watching marvel movies with my family. Each time a new marvel movie is released, it is a family outing followed by a thorough analysis and QandA where my brother and I answer questions from our parents, as they have forgotten details from previous movies and need some help putting the pieces together.
UTS is very welcoming and has a down to earth vibe with a very diverse environment. Everyone that I asked for recommendations on which university to go to said that UTS was the most exciting up and coming university that everyone wanted to attend, which is evident as most of my friends are now at UTS. Since I am with very like-minded people I think my time in this degree has made me more confident to speak to new people and spark a conversation.
Studying sport and exercise science means that my practicals are based at the Moore Park campus. These facilities are what any sport scientist, exercise physiologist, physiotherapist and more could dream of. Additionally the building is above the Rugby Australia Building and next to the NRL headquarters. This makes students feel as though they are surrounded by the business and make internships and collaborations highly accessible.
This degree is very versatile and broad. If you are unsure of what to do but you know it is something in the general sports science area this is a great course for you. You will be exposed to so many different areas of the sporting world and one might just inspire you into a future career. Furthermore, you get to use great facilities and are taught by academics who have a wide variety of backgrounds in the sporting industry and offer so much knowledge.
