I completed a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Management at UTS from 2006-2008 and an Honours degree in Human Movement in 2009. I found my studies at UTS to be very enjoyable and it has equipped me with the theoretical and practical knowledge to be able to work in my chosen field of Strength and Conditioning.
During my undergraduate studies I was lucky enough to complete an internship at the Manly Sea Eagles under the Head Strength and Conditioning coach. I found this experience invaluable and it allowed me to know for sure that a career in fitness and in particular Strength and Conditioning was a career path I wanted to follow.
My Honours year was a challenging year but it was by far my most rewarding and important of all the 4 years of my study. The UTS staff, in particular my supervisor Aaron Coutts, went over and above their duties to assist and guide me through my Honours year.
At the end of my Honours year, through the contacts of UTS staff, I was offered a job at the Cronulla Sharks. During the 2010/2011 season I was the Strength and Conditioning Coach for Cronulla’s SG Ball team and I also assisted with the Toyota Cup and NRL teams.
Towards the end of the 2010 season I was offered a full-time Strength and Conditioning position at Shore School which I gladly accepted. This job involves me constructing and implementing fitness programs of all types, for several different sports including rugby, rowing, cricket and soccer, as well as running the school’s gymnasium facilities. I really enjoy my current position and find the role extremely rewarding. I have no doubt that the opportunity to study at UTS and the expert guidance of their staff have allowed me to be where I am today.
