Since graduating I am earning more and am happier in my work as a result of the Masters.
Prior to the Masters I had worked in advertising and marketing roles. The Masters gave me the confidence to apply for, and succeed in, communications roles. I am earning more and am happier in my work as a result of the Masters.
I’ve gained confidence in my ability as a writer. I had previously done some freelance writing and editing work, but the Masters legitimized my fondness for words into something that colleagues, friends and employers could recognize.
Working with a talented cohort and impressive academic staff has been my favourite aspect of the degree. While I was impressed by my fellow student’s level of writing, the teaching staff helped me feel confident that my work had its own place. I have also made friendships with fellow writers which means we will continue to work together beyond the Masters.
It’s important to work on building relationships with fellow students, as they will be your writing community once you have graduated. They will be your source of companionship and possibly even future work, and will understand your writing as no one else will.
Since graduating I am earning more and am happier in my work as a result of the Masters. I have the structure, discipline and a clear path for how I will continue to work on my writing. The Masters is neither a beginning nor ending, but is a massive boost for my writing pursuits.
