The Wanago Access Scholarship for Young Women aims to support a female Wanago participant who has the personal potential and commitment to study engineering or IT, and can demonstrate financial disadvantage.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible for the Scholarship, an applicant must meet all of the following criteria:
- Australia or New Zealand citizen or the holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa; and
- Be female identifying; and
- Have completed the UTS Wanago Program
- Have met the conditions for direct admission to UTS via the Wanago Program
- Have received endorsement from the Wanago Program Head Teacher
- Be intending to commence full time study in any undergraduate Engineering or IT degree program, excluding combined degrees
- Have applied through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) for an Equity Scholarship and/or Education Access Scheme or School’s Recommendation Scheme therein demonstrate financial disadvantage and/or other categories of disadvantage; and
- All candidates must apply using the UTS online Scholarships Application form to be eligible
- All candidates must be available to attend an interview in person (online or face-to-face)
Selection process
Eligible candidates will be presented to a Scholarship Selection Committee, which will undertake the selection of Recipients, based on the following selection criteria:
- Motivation and commitment to succeed in a career in STEM
- Value derived from their participation in the Wanago Program
- Motivation to act as an ambassador or role model for other young women, and to support the next generation of Wanago participants
- Financial need and/or other categories of disadvantage. Preference will be given to applicants that demonstrate financial hardship through either UAC Equity Scholarship, the School’s Recommendation and/or Education Access Scheme
