Overview

The Wanago Access Scholarship for Young Women aims to support a female Wanago participant who has the personal potential and commitment to study engineering or IT and can demonstrate financial disadvantage and/or other categories of disadvantage.

Who is eligible?

  • Australian or New Zealand citizen or the holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa; and
  • Be female identifying; and
  • Have completed the UTS Wanago Program
  • Have met the conditions for direct admission to UTS via the Wanago Program
  • Have received endorsement from the Wanago Program Head Teacher
  • Be intending to commence their first year in any undergraduate Engineering or IT degree program or combined degrees in Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology[1].
  • Have applied through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) for an Equity Scholarship and/or Education Access Scheme or School’s Recommendation Scheme therein demonstrate financial disadvantage and/or other categories of disadvantage; and
  • All candidates must apply using the UTS online Scholarships Application form to be eligible
  • All candidates must be available to attend an interview in person (online or face-to-face)


 


[1] The following combined FEIT degrees are not included: 

  • combined with Bachelor of Laws;
  • Bachelor of Criminology Bachelor of Cybersecurity

Selection process

As demonstrated in the application and interview process:

  • Motivation and commitment to succeed in a career in STEM 
  • Value derived from their participation in the Wanago Program
  • Motivation to act as an ambassador or role model for other young women, and to support the next generation of Wanago participants 
  • Financial need and/or other categories of disadvantage. 

 

Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate one or more of the following:

  • First UAC preference to an eligible UTS Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT) undergraduate degree at the time of selection.
  • Demonstrate financial hardship through either UAC Equity Scholarship, the School’s Recommendation and/or Education Access Scheme.
