Overview

The Longevity PT Scholarship (Masters of Clinical Exercise Physiology) is to provide financial support to a student who is currently experiencing financial or educational disadvantages which impact their ability to achieve their education goals while demonstrating an intention to pursue a career in clinical exercise physiology.

Longevity PT is a team of exercise professionals combining exercise physiology and exercise science.

Who is eligible?

To be eligible for the Scholarship an applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Australian or New Zealand citizen or the holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian via; and
  • Enrolled in the Masters of Clinical Exercise Physiology (C04449) and completed the Autumn session prior to award (24 Credit points or equivalent); and
  • Completing one of the following courses in the session immediately following award of the scholarship;
    • Clinical Exercise Physiology Placement 1 (94924)
    • Clinical Exercise Physiology Placement 2 (94933)
    • Clinical Exercise Physiology Placement 3 (94934); and
  • All applicants must apply using the UTS Online Scholarships Application form to be eligible; and
  • All candidates must be available to attend an interview (in person or via Teams).

Preference may be given to students who can demonstrate one or more of the following educational disadvantages that may include:

  • Financial Hardship
  • Regional or remote background
  • Sole parent responsibilities
  • Carer responsibilities
  • Long-term medical condition/disability or ongoing effect of abuse
  • Indigenous Australian heritage
  • Refugee status

Applicants wishing to evidence the preferential criteria must complete the UAC Equity Scholarship application through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) therein demonstrating financial disadvantage[1] and/or other Educational Barrier/s. 


 


[1] Through receiving a means-tested Commonwealth income support payment (such as Parenting Payment Single, Disability Support Pension, Carer’s Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY, Youth Allowance); OR by providing comprehensive information demonstrating exceptional financial hardship; OR Students may make an appointment for an alternative financial assessment with the UTS Financial Assistance Service in the Student Services Unit in order to evidence financial disadvantage. This is only available in cases when an applicant has been deemed ineligible based on not meeting the financial hardship criteria as specified above and as outlined in the UAC application, or has been unable to submit an Equity Scholarship

 

Selection process

As demonstrated in the Scholarship application and interview:

  • Motivation to pursue a career in clinical exercise physiology as an accredited exercise physiologist.
  • How the Scholarship would assist them to perform and/or achieve in their course at a higher level than would otherwise be the case
  • Preference will be given to students who meet one or more educational disadvantages as outlined in Clause 6 via their UAC Equity Scholarship application
