Overview

The Metal Trades Industry Association of Australia (MTIA) established the John Heine Memorial Foundation in 1950 in memory of John Heine, who did much to advance the cause of the metal trades industry.

This prize was established in memory of John Heine to offer support and encouragement to high performing students with a major in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering.

Who is eligible?

To be eligible for the prize, Recipients must:

  • Be an Australian citizen
  • Be enrolled in C09067 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice, and
  • Have a major in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering, and
  • Have completed a minimum of 36 credit points in the relevant academic year prior to the awards.

Selection process

The eligible student in each year with the highest Weighted Average Mark, where:

  • First Year category: have completed 36-60 credit points overall.
  • Second Year category: have completed 72-120 credit points overall.
  • Third Year category: have completed 108-160 credit points overall.

 

Selection:

There is no application for this scholarship. Student with the highest Weighted Average Mark in each year category will be identified by the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology Academic Administrative Officer on the basis of the selection criteria as provided in clauses 4 and 5, and confirmed by the Associate Dean (Teaching & Learning).
