Overview
The Hon. Helen Sham-Ho Law Postgraduate Prize was established to recognise the best performing student who is a citizen or resident of the People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong or Taiwan, and is eligible to graduate from one of the Juris Doctor courses or the Master of Laws (LLM) in the academic year for which the prize is being awarded.
Who is eligible?
The Recipient must:
- be enrolled in a Juris Doctor course (the Juris Doctor, the combined Juris Doctor Graduate Certificate in Professional Legal Practice, the combined Juris Doctor Master of Business Administration, the Juris Doctor Master of Intellectual Property, the Juris Doctor Graduate Certificate in Trademark Law and Practice) or the Master of Laws (LLM) in the academic year for which the prize is being awarded;
- is a citizen or resident of the People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong or Taiwan; and
- is eligible to graduate from one of the relevant courses specified above.
Selection process
The prize will be awarded to a student who achieves the highest final aggregate mark from one of the Juris Doctor courses or the Master of Laws (LLM) in the relevant academic year of all eligible students identified in the eligibility criteria.
In the event that two or more eligible students have the same highest aggregate mark, the following criteria will be considered:
- Overall academic performance in the student’s course outside of formal assessment that demonstrates mastery of and engagement in the course;
- No previous attempts of the course enrolled;
- Whether the student has failed any subjects, received academic cautions or had a finding of misconduct against them.
