Overview

This PhD project will use laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry to quantitatively image the distribution of endogenous elements and proteins via a metal proxy in muscle tissue. You will develop methods to cross-validate your results using other techniques such as LC-MS or more standard biological assays. You will use your validated method to investigate protein-protein interactions in muscle tissue during aging.

Who is eligible?

Applicants must be either permanent Australian or New Zealand residents or citizens. To be eligible for this application, you must hold the following or equivalent degree in Chemistry:

  • Honours degree with First Class, or Second Class Division 1, or;
  • MSc Research; or MSc Coursework with a research thesis of at least 6 months.
