The Commonwealth Secretariat organised a workshop on aspects of managing human resources for health, in Sydney, Australia from 2- 5 July 2007. The purpose of the workshop was to assist countries to review/develop strategies and systems to manage human resources for health including health workforce planning. Professor Buchan (UTS, FNM&H Visiting Professor) ran the workshop with Peggy Vidot Adviser (Health) Commonwealth Secretariat.
Country teams from Australia Cook Islands New Zealand PNG Samoa Solomon Islands Tonga Tuvalu comprising of three participants, the Human Resource Manager in the Ministry of Health, and any two of the following persons, the chief nursing officer, representatives of professional associations/unions and training institution for health attended the workshop.
A networking reception was held by the Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Health, University of Technology, Sydney during the Workshop.
