Honours & Masters Scholarships

TO APPLY:  

1. Obtain your official university transcript and prepare a 1-page personal statement which outlines why you would benefit from the scholarship. Merge these into one PDF (not Portfolio) with your project proposal, CV and any other supporting information.

2. In your application, you will be asked to note your project preferences. See here for a full list of available projects.

3.  Read through the NGGP Conditions of Award before submitting your application. 

4. Apply for Next Generation Graduates Program Scholarship.

The Next Generation Graduates Program (NGGP) is funded by CSIRO and Sydney Quantum Academy, with support from industry partners.

With opportunities for in-depth training and collaboration with industry, students can become career-ready specialists in their field.

These scholarships are available to domestic Honours and Masters students working in the field of quantum technology at one of the SQA partner universities.

There are two streams to this scholarship: Master of Research Scholarship, and Honours Scholarship. 

Variable conditions exist for each stream; please consult the Sydney Quantum Academy website - 'Application Details' for full info.

1. Details of Scholarship

  • Projects are offered from across the four SQA partner universities. See here for a list of available projects.  
  • Honours Scholarship worth $10,000 and a $5,000 training allowance for the duration of your Honours year.  
  • Master of Research Scholarship (Macquarie University) worth $30,000 per annum (pro rata) for a maximum one-year period for the recipient’s second-year Masters research component. 
  • The scholarship includes six days of exposure to industry partners (Honours) or 20 days (Masters) to gain valuable experience to develop your skills and network. 
  • Successful students will complete CSIRO project-based learning modules which facilitate multi-disciplinary information exchange, collaboration, cross-cutting skills, and peer-to-peer learning. 
  • Students must complete the NGGP Coursework to the satisfaction of the CSIRO Coursework Leads within 12 months of commencement of their Scholarship.   
  • Please note: The details of the scholarship and participating institutions are subject to change. 

2. Am I Eligible?

  • Applicants must be domestic students at the time of award. Domestic students include Australian citizens and permanent residents; Persons entitled to stay in Australia, or to enter and stay in Australia, without any limitation as to time; and New Zealand citizens. 
  • Students from all identities can apply. However, we strongly encourage applications from those identifying as women or non-gender binary, LGBTQIA+, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, people with disability or who are from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds,  and anyone from other under-represented groups in society.
  • At the time of application, the recipient is expected to apply for or be enrolled in full-time studies in a field related to quantum technology at the level relevant to their scholarship type at UTS (or another of the SQA partner universities).
  • International students are not eligible, but are welcome to apply for the SQA PhD Scholarship program.
