Cross-Lab LLM Research Group: Chat GPT and Large Language/Foundation Models

Background

Large-scale language models such as ChatGPT and foundation models like GPT-3 have shown remarkable success in a variety of tasks, from language generation to question answering and even dialogue systems. As a result, there has been growing interests in exploring the potential of these models in academia, industry, and broad societal practices.

To promote the exchange of knowledge and ideas among researchers, practitioners, and enthusiasts, we propose the establishment of a special working committee dedicated to the development, applications, and implications of language and foundation models, particularly ChatGPT. The group will provide a platform for members to share their experiences and insights, discuss new research directions and ideas, and collaborate on projects related to these models.

Objectives

This group will discuss the opportunities and challenges to establish a response to the questions which are arising in relation to ChatGPT and large language and foundation models, including a set of guidelines.

  • To facilitate the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and experiences related to ChatGPT and foundation models among researchers and practitioners.

  • To promote the development and advancement of research related to ChatGPT and foundation models.

  • To foster collaboration and networking opportunities among members of the groups.

Main Tasks

  • To form guidelines regarding how this technology could be better utilised.

  • To lead to the discovery of other technologies.

  • To provide an opportunity for cross collaboration amongst AAII’s different groups.

  • To organise meetings, workshops, and seminars to discuss and share the most recent research findings, techniques, and best practices related to ChatGPT and foundation models.

  • To encourage the development of innovative applications of ChatGPT and foundation models across various domains, such as natural language processing, conversational AI, and machine learning.

  • To create opportunities for collaboration and networking among members of the group, including the establishment of joint research projects and initiatives.
