2022 CMT TechCamp Australia

The CMT partnered with the U.S. Department of State to deliver 'TechCamp' at our Sydney premises in November 2022. The TechCamp program creates connections and empowers civil society to solve the world’s most pressing challenges through technology. The Australian iteration sought to improve the capacity of Pacific journalists in monitoring mis- and disinformation and reporting responsibly in digital environments.

TechCamp Australia brought news media experts together with participants from the Pacific region who deeply understood the challenges faced in the area of digital journalism. Together, they co-created solutions and strategies to combat mis- and disinformation online. Through a variety of hands-on demonstrations and training, TechCamp trainers worked closely with participants to brainstorm low-cost, and easy-to-implement technologies and strategies that could be applied to local challenges.
