Study with us
AIMI offers Undergraduate, Honours and Postgraduate research programs in which students work on innovative solutions to real-world challenges alongside world-class researchers.
Why study with us?
Undergraduates
At the undergraduate level, AIMI delivers courses in microbiology, molecular biology, microscopy, and biotechnology. These courses draw on the wealth of expertise from internationally recognised scientists within the AIMI and provide exposure to state-of-the-art technologies in high-quality teaching laboratories, such as The Hive Super Lab.
Postgraduates
At the postgraduate level, AIMI trains PhD students in high-level research in microbiology, genomics, bioinformatics, biotechnology, and more. Research students benefit from mentoring from world-class scientists with next-generation facilities.
Applying for Undergraduate, Honours or Postgraduate research programs
For more information on applying for Undergraduate programs, see Study Science and Mathematics.
Honours
If you have consistently scored a credit average in the second and third years of your undergraduate study, an Honours program provides the opportunity to enhance your research skills and improve your career prospects. Outstanding candidates may be eligible for an AIMI Honors Scholarship.
Students who wish to complete an Honours program with AIMI should first check their eligibility, identify a project, and speak with a potential supervisor from the researchers and research areas listed below.
Excellence in Research Honours Scholarship
Students will be considered for this competitive scholarship, valued at $5000, upon enrollment in a UTS Honours program through an AIMI primary supervisor. Priority will be given to high-calibre students interested in pursuing a research-rich career in microbiology or infectious disease. For more information on eligibility and how to apply, please check the guidelines below.
Postgraduate
Before applying to study at AIMI as a postgraduate student, you must identify a project and speak with a potential supervisor from the researchers and research areas listed below.
As we are a research institute within the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), you must then consult the UTS Graduate Research School about applying to study at UTS as an honours or postgraduate research student.
