UTS FEIT Celebrates Jie Lu's AO Appointment
The Vice-Chancellor and Provost attended the ceremony held in recognition of Jie Lu's outstanding achievement.
On Australia Day 2023, AAII Director, Distinguished Professor Jie Lu was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO). The Order of Australia recognises Australians who have demonstrated outstanding service or exceptional achievement. Jie Lu has received this honour from the Governor-General for her “distinguished service to engineering and computer science, particularly through the research and development of artificial intelligence.”
The UTS Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology has held a ceremony to celebrate Jie Lu’s achievement, attended by Vice-Chancellor Andrew Parfitt and Provost Vicki Chen. Jie Lu’s research strengthens the overall excellence of the Faculty, propelling its impact-driven focus on improving individual lives and society as a whole.
Distinguished Professor Jie Lu AO is the first UTS academic to be awarded an ARC Laureate Fellowship. The project promises great benefit to Australia’s economy, health and society by enhancing autonomous machine learning for data-driven decision-making across multiple industries. Jie Lu's Laureate Project is one among many of the broad reaching impacts of her research across multiple sectors including healthcare, transport and telecommunications.
