PNG ANGAU Memorial Hospital Redevelopment Project
Paediatric Facilities Site Visit
17 December 2020
A team from the WHO CC UTS has been conducting a scoping review of training needs under the Clinical Services Program of the ANGAU Memorial Hospital Redevelopment Project, firstly for the birthing suites at ANGAU Memorial Hospital, and then the paediatric facilities, between August 2020 and August 2021.
Within the ANGAU Hospital, the preparedness of the paediatric facilities is seen as an urgent priority and, consequently, the site visit to the new paediatric facilities was an important stakeholder event that occurred over several days in November and December 2020. Relevant ANGAU Hospital staff, including members from the Special Care Nursery (SCN), Paediatric Inpatient ward, and Children’ Outpatient Department (COPD) participated in a site-walk through their respecting facilities.
The site-walk though allowed the hospital staff to see the progress of the new paediatric facilities and provided an opportunity to give any feedback/comments about the buildings before the handover, commissioning, and occupancy. The staff were given a brief explanation of the buildings floor plan and shown different rooms in the buildings. The site visit was successful, with a lot of positive feedback from the hospital staff, especially in relation to the buildings space.
