  • be methodical, organised and systematic in your literature searching
  • follow the steps involved in literature searching
  • break down your research topic into key concepts
  • turn your key concepts into search terms and alternative terms (synonyms)
  • develop your search strategy using Boolean operators
  • use Google Scholar and ProQuest database to locate journal articles on your topic
  • modify your search strategy when things don’t go according to the plan
  • save your searches
  • use Scopus database to locate highly cited articles in your research area
  • request resources using InterLibrary Loan and ArticleReach
