Strengthening the quantum economy through collaborative research
About the Sydney Quantum Academy
To secure Sydney as the global leader in quantum technology, The Sydney Quantum Academy (SQA) enables collaborative quantum research, provides training for the next generation of quantum engineers, and attracts investments from key players in the global technology industry. The initiative supports discoveries in diverse fields of quantum algorithms and software, quantum theory and the development of quantum hardware.
The Sydney Quantum Academy's vision is to build Australia's quantum economy. Through collaboration with academia, industry and government, SQA will harness Sydney's collective quantum expertise to develop diverse talent and a globally recognised quantum ecosystem.
Specifically, they
- Develop future quantum leaders, specialists and entrepreneurs through education and training
- Partner to understand industry and community evolving needs
- Attract global talent and investment
- Promote the responsible development and use of quantum technologies
Four leading NSW universities joined forces to establish The Sydney Quantum Academy, including the University of Technology Sydney (Centre for Quantum Software and Information), the University of Sydney, the University of NSW, and Macquarie University. The major sponsor of the Academy is the NSW Government.
