Outgoing Visiting Fellow opportunities for UTS academics
The Outgoing KTP Visiting Fellow Program gives UTS academics the opportunity to collaborate on research collaboration with academics from UTS’s KTP institutions. Similar to the KTP Visiting Fellow Program, funding for accommodation, travel and living expenses will be provided by the KTP Partner to UTS academics during the duration of their fellowship. Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) (opens an external site) in China, is currently offering a Visiting Fellow Program for UTS academics.
The HUST Visiting Fellow Program is targeted at professors or distinguished academics. It should be noted that applications from academics with existing research collaboration or projects with HUST will be given priority. However, the HUST International Exchange Centre will actively assist in linking UTS academics with HUST academics working in similar or complementary research areas.
Duration
Each visit may not exceed a period of 14 days.
HUST will cover the cost of:
- Airfares – a return economy class ticket from Sydney to Wuhan
- Accommodation – accommodation of up to 4 stars
- Seminars – a maximum one-off payment of 5000RMB will be given
- Living Expenses – a maximum of 200RMB will be given during the first to the seventh day of the visit. 100RMB will be given from the eighth day of the visit and onwards.
Application process
The HUST Visiting Fellow application form must be completed in full. The form is in Chinese and can be filled out by the HUST host academic and should be submitted by the HUST academic. However, the content of the form should be agreed upon by both the HUST host academic and UTS academic. An acknowledgement letter (in English or Chinese) from the UTS academic detailing their willingness to take part in the visit if the application is successful should be included in the application.
The purpose of the visit must be stated clearly in the application. Successful applicants will then be contacted by HUST to confirm their visit either via email or fax. Within a month of the completion of the visit, a summary of the visit, with photos, must be submitted to the Program Officer at HUST International Exchange Centre.
Deadlines
Applications must be submitted by mid-May and mid-August 2014
Other requirements
An invitation letter from the HUST host academic will need to be provided with the completed application form.
