Michael Coutts-Trotter has held a variety of high-level government positions.

Coutts-Trotter has led five agencies since 2004, including the NSW Department of Commerce, Department of Education and his most recent role is Acting Secretary of the New South Wales Treasury after previously serving as the Secretary of the Department of Communities and Justice.
"UTS opened my eyes to the value, and occasional dangers, of applying theory to understand the rough and tumble of life," he says.
"I learned lots – how to write and something of how to reason. I also discovered how little I really knew. Best of all, I made and kept some friends."
