Abstudy
You may be eligible for Abstudy if you:
- identify yourself as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent and are a part of a community, and
- are studying full-time or part-time at university, including distance or block modes, and Masters and Doctorate programs.

Depending on your situation, you may also be eligible for extra payments to help with living costs, rental assistance and additional allowance, including fares, pharmaceuticals and remote area allowances.

Benefits and allowances may also be claimed for certain course costs, including for Indigenous students relocating for a Masters or Doctorate course, or completing a thesis.

Jumbunna assists prospective Indigenous students gain entry to UTS. They also provide comprehensive ongoing student support and services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students studying at UTS.
UTS implements Affirmative Action strategies for access to education and employment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The UTS Centre for Social Justice and Inclusion runs various programs in the interest of Indigenous Australians, including the Wingara Indigenous Employment and Career Development Strategy, and the Indigenous Women's Network.
