Development of postgraduate diploma in emergency, high dependency and acute care nursing at the National University of Samoa
The objective of this project was to provide expert technical advice to the Faculty of Nursing on the development and implementation of a postgraduate course in Emergency, High Dependency and Acute Care Nursing which will prepare nurses to function effectively as nurse specialists. This project included curriculum development, taking into account the appropriateness for low-resource developing countries. Other considerations were: course structure/management, clinical practicums, evaluation mechanisms, faculty development needs and resources. The curriculum was designed to be applicable by WHO to other low-resource countries in the region. The project was conducted by Professor Sharon McKinley for the World Health Organisation.
