The Impact of the 2004/05 New Zealand Nurses Employment Agreement
The project was directed by Visiting Professor James Buchan, and was funded by the New Zealand Nurses Organisation. It was conducted in association with Nicola North at the University of Auckland, and examined the impact of the so called 2004/5 'pay jolt' on the New Zealand nursing labour market. The key findings included evidence of growth in nursing employment in the public sector, and some 'knock on' effect to nuring jobs on other sectors. There was also evidence of an increase in applications to nurse education in the years immediately after the pay award.
