Meeting with Myanmar's Minister of Health

A meeting was held at UTS in response to a request from AusAID. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss possible future collaboration in particular in relation to maternal and child health. We discussed possible links in the future between our WHO CC and the WHO CC in Myanmar.

They are particularly interested in exploring PhD scholarship opportunities with AusAID funding for midwives to undertake a PhD at UTS. We discussed common research interests and opportunities. They were also interested in a possible ALA Fellowship program for their nursing and midwifery teachers – a similar faculty development program as we have recently run with PNG. We also discussed being able to assist with up-skilling in emergency maternity care training. We were invited to visit Myanmar in 2013.
