Sydney Web Fest & UTS FASS: A Celebration of Digital Creativity!
The ultimate celebration of online content on Sydney’s arts calendar is happening at UTS on October 12th and 13th. Australia's premier international web and digital media festival Sydney Web Fest (SWF) is teaming up with UTS’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) to deliver an unmissable weekend of showcases, industry panels, workshops, talks, networking, and awards! From web series to short films, pilots, podcasts, animation, and beyond, SWF is a platform where creators can shine, share, and connect. Whether you’re an emerging talent or a seasoned professional, this is your chance to gain recognition and meet and learn from industry pros from around the globe.
When? Starts 9am Saturday 12 October and goes through until late Sunday night 13 October, 2024

✨ What’s Happening? A packed program with something for everyone including showcases of over a hundred groundbreaking web series, short films, actual play, and interactive projects from 20 countries across the globe. Come and support FASS student works like:
Rumina Sarjami’s Stories from the Other Side of the Sea;
Lucy Brandwood’s UnMascing Beauty; and
Eben Mannell’s A Dispute Between Friends About Chips.
Industry networking, panels and workshops giving attendees ample opportunities to connect with and learn from leading creators, industry professionals, academics, and representatives from major platforms and creative companies. Don't miss FASS panels and workshops with academics and alumni such as:
- Queer Screen Journeys: Re-Imagining Structure & Time, a hands-on workshop with Dr. Natalie Krikowa and Dr. Evangeline Aguas (10am Sun 13 October in Studio Pink)
- UTS MAP Student to New York Times Featured Filmmaker, a panel on crafting exceptional on-screen stories with Dr. Justin Harvey and award-winning international filmmaking alum David Ma (2pm Sat 12 Oct in The Rizzo DAB Cinema Theatre); and
- Live@2SER: Reopening the community for live, local, excellent music & bringing it to the world, a panel with Dr. Liz Giuffre, Lachlan Holland (2SER music coordinator), and music alum Nina Longfellow with Tom Smith (founders of Soft Spot Recordings), discussing how the Live@2SER initiative is creating opportunities for artists during challenging times in the Australian music industry (3:30pm, Sat 12 Oct in The Rizzo DAB Cinema Theatre).
