Supporting women on campus
This year's International Women’s Day theme was “Inspire Inclusion” and we’re looking to the amazing groups and communities already making a difference to our female-identifying staff and students. If you're interested in finding spaces where you can meet and connect with other like-minded students, check out some of the clubs, collectives, and societies dedicated to just that.
Clubs and societies
WXSTEM
WXSTEMM promotes the equity of Women and Non-Binary (NB) people in STEMM fields.
WXSTEM is a professional development society at UTS that aims to connect women and non-binary people in STEM with the industry and build friendships with their peers. We're celebrating International Women's Day by posting about women in various fields of STEM on our Instagram! Our upcoming events include a Self Defense Workshop with Women in Engineering and IT and a site visit with Atlassian.
We hope that our society provides opportunities for women and non-binary students to elevate their skills and connections early on in their careers.

Women in Business
Women in Business seeks to empower a community of inspired and entrepreneurial women by fusing them through business exposure and experience.
We aim to empower a dynamic community of inspired and proactive women through business exposure and experience. We provide this through our programs and events throughout the year, such as International Women’s Day Breakfast, Autumn and Spring Mentoring Programs, Graduate Programs, Sessions and Internship opportunities provided by our Sponsors and our Personal Branding workshop.
We want to equip young women with invaluable networking opportunities and insights to succeed in any field, ranging from finance to fashion. Together, the members of UTS WiB play a leading role in cultivating the next generation of female leaders who are passionate about economic, financial and political change through business.

Collectives
Women’s Collective
The Women’s Collective (WoCo) is the UTSSA’s organisation for feminism activism. They are a network of misogyny-affected students (students who are not cisgender men) who seek to incite intersectional social change.
Beyond celebratory activities, the Women's Collective serves as a platform for various initiatives, from book clubs and movie nights to impactful panels and networking events, contributing to personal, academic, and professional development of female students.
-Mariam Yassine 2024 UTS Women’s Officer
An upcoming event of note is the Women in Media panel which will be held at UTS on Wed 27 March from 6:00-8:00 pm featuring prominent female journalists and figures in the industry to provide their invaluable advice and perspective to students.
Furthermore, the Women's Collective takes pride in the free period product scheme, ensuring universal access to essential hygiene products, and its Safe Space initiative provides a comfortable and dynamic community for women to engage in.
Initiatives
Women in Sport
This hugely successful program is designed for female-identifying students who are looking to get into (or back into) regular physical activity. There are a bunch of classes to choose from, including self-defence, volleyball, tennis, hip hop, basketball and more. The classes are scheduled at different times throughout the year so make sure to check out which ones will work for you.
It’s important to note that these clubs, collectives, and societies are not only around for International Women’s Day but are here to support you year-round. They’ll be hosting various events and services so keep an eye out for things you can get involved with.
