After Prime Minister Anthony Albanese met the People's Republic of China’s (PRC) top three leaders in Shanghai and Beijing earlier this month, the two sides released a Statement on Joint Outcomes. This included an agreement to continue or expand engagement in political dialogue, bilateral trade, global challenges such as climate change, and people-to-people links. With further progress towards 'stabilisation', and against the backdrop of the PRC’s own domestic and broader foreign policy priorities and challenges, now is an opportune time to delve deeper into how the PRC sees the next stage of bilateral relations proceeding.
The Australia-China Relations Institute at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS:ACRI) welcomed Mr Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, to deliver an address before being joined in conversation by UTS:ACRI Director Professor James Laurenceson.
There was a moderated Q&A segment drawing on pre-submitted questions from registered attendees.
