Student research opportunities
CHERE seeks students interested in undertaking research in the following areas:
- Economic evidence and decision making
- Micro-econometric analysis of the behaviour of health careconsumers, providers and funders
- Quality of life analysis
- Analysis of health care programs and policies using discrete choice experiments
An understanding of how health systems work requires detailed knowledge of how agents behave within the system and their motivations. CHERE students will undertake research that aims to improve the operation of the health system and contribute to the design of good health care policy. Areas of application include economic evaluation and decision-making, public and private health insurance, and the health care workforce. The focus of research is on identifying gaps in knowledge and addressing key health policy questions.
Research Program (Seminars)
Students will
- participate in weekly seminars in health economics and health services research
- be supported to present their research at external workshops and conferences
- have access to health economics training via the NSW Health Economics Consortium, a collaboration across four Sydney based universities
Student Support
Students will be supervised and supported by CHERE staff and/or associates. CHERE may provide financial assistance in the form of top-up scholarships to suitably qualified applicants.
