Social impact grants
The role of social norms and misperceptions on Muslim women’s work outcomes project run by Dr. Elif Incekara-Hafalir (Senior Lecturer, Economics Discipline Group, UTS Business School), Rayan Merkbawi (Lecturer at Management Discipline Group at UTS Business School), and Ali Vergili (PhD student at Economics Discipline Group at UTS Business School), in partnership with the Australian Muslim Women’s Centre for Human Rights, has been successful in securing the Social Impact Grant.
The project explores how (mis)perceptions of social norms affect the workforce participation of Muslim women from migrant backgrounds in Australia. By addressing these misperceptions, we aim to enhance career opportunities and promote inclusivity. Through collaboration with the Australian Muslim Women Centre for Human Rights, we will conduct surveys and provide recommendations to improve program effectiveness and empower young Muslim women in the workforce.
