Chris’ research is primarily in applied economics with an emphasis on business intelligence and business decision making, sustainable production systems, circular economy, tax compliance, productivity, management practices, and in the field of education - on curriculum design.
Professor Paul Burke
Deputy Director
Paul is an expert in applied and theoretical aspects of choice modelling, experimental design, scale development, and consumer behaviour. His research largely involves customised primary data collection (online surveys, choice experiments). He uses a range of marketing research techniques applied in a variety of areas including customer decisions (e.g., willingness to pay; attribute preferences, adoption of innovations), workforce and employee job preferences, as well as mobile learning and pedagogy in education.

His current focus is on the influence of performance measurement on organisational innovation and the impact of digitalisation on the finance function. He collaborates with industry partners in healthcare, cleaning, regulatory bodies, and professional practice, and is highly regarded as a speaker on management control, cost management, and data analytics for decision-making.

Edward has many years’ experience in manufacturing management from working at a large electronics firm. He is proficient in using data mining for marketing research. He worked with clients as both a consultant and trainer in the use of non-parametric classification software for target marketing.
