Australia-China Dialogue: IP protection and border enforcement
The China Law Research Group in the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) Faculty of Law together with the Australia-China Relations Institute (ACRI) hosted the second Chinese-Australian Dialogue on Intellectual Property (IP) Protection and Border Enforcement. This was a continuation of the 2014 Dialogue with Australian Border Force, various business organisations, IP Legal Experts and Chinese counterparts.
Now that Australia and China have a free trade agreement in place and China has formulated a set of policies aimed at strengthening trans-regional customs cooperation to support the Belt and Road Initiative, this Dialogue provided an opportunity to consider developments in IP protection and border enforcement. It brought together Chinese and Australian representatives from industry, government and academia to discuss the legal and policy issues and potential solutions relating to cross-border enforcement of IP rights between China and Australia.
Professor The Hon Bob Carr, Director of ACRI, presented opening remarks.
