Design Honours exhibit: Beyond Design as Usual
A professional exhibition showcasing student work and projects from the 2022 Bachelor of Design Honours program.
This exhibition Beyond design as usual showcases the work of 13 Honours students from the School of Design – across multiple design disciplines including social innovation, visual communication, photography, product design, fashion and textiles. Opening celebrations were held on Thursday 1 December, with the exhibition running until late January.
EXHIBITION EXTENDED: UTS School of Design and the Australian Design Centre are pleased to announce an extension to this exciting exhibition – now running until 25 Jan 2023.
Beyond design as usual is also the UTS School of Design's focus for connecting design students with practicing designers, institutions and curators fostering professional networks. These students have studied during challenging times and their work reflects this. Notions of what is considered important, meaningful, or valuable are underlying themes that come through in the students' work, despite the varied courses undertaken.
As our world becomes increasingly complex, designers are orientating their practices towards systems-level change. From carefully crafted artefacts to the design of products and experiences, designers are helping people navigate the world in new ways.
The students were selected by professional designers Tina Fox and Tom Fereday, Australian Design Centre CEO and Artistic Director Lisa Cahill, and Head of School Kate Sweetapple .
