The Australian Department of Health has formally acknowledged the contribution of AAII researchers to the Australian Immunisation Register. The AIR-MADIP team (Australian Immunisation Register - Multi-Agency Data Integration Project) thanked UTS after they were awarded the Commonwealth Department of Health’s 2021 Secretary's Award for Innovation.
In a formal letter on behalf of the project team at the Department, Associate Professor Long and Dr Peng along with their team were recognised for their vital role in identifying priority population cohorts under each phase of the COVID-19 Vaccination Strategy, using expertise in machine learning and data analytics. At the time of writing, the AIR-MADIP team has produced over 47 releases of the project. With AAII’s involvement, their work has informed strategies for achieving Australia’s world-class COVID-19 vaccination rate.
