WHO CC Intern Alice Boutros
Alice is currently completing her final semester in a Bachelor of Health Science, majoring in human structure and function at UTS. She is passionate about patient-centred care, the complex nature of healthcare systems and the social determinants of health that affect the health outcomes of individuals and populations.
As an intern at WHO CC UTS, Alice’s role included liaising with WHO CC staff in conducting, organising and creating excel databases and cross-checking information. Additionally, she performed literature searches, completed a literature review, analysed data, assisted in the organisation of events, wrote articles for Regional Updates, and took part in formatting and referencing.
Alice has been directly involved in organising the Curriculum Review Workshop for Diploma of General Nursing and Certificate for CHW of the project “Strengthening Health Workforce Education in PNG”. She was involved in the background organisation of the workshop, which included cross-checking attendee information and flight itineraries. She also created various resources essential for the workshop facilitation in Papua New Guinea; these include name tags for the attendees and facilitators, sign-in sheets, and certificates.
During Alice’s time at WHO CC UTS, she thoroughly enjoyed liaising with the WHO CC team, developing her writing and research skills, and utilising the invaluable knowledge she learnt throughout her degree.
Alice greatly enjoyed her experience at the Centre, as it provided invaluable industry experience and allowed her to develop industry skills and knowledge. She is excited to use the knowledge she gained as a foundation from which her career as a health professional can flourish.
