Students are encouraged to join and contribute to a Law and Justice Discussion Group.
Brennan Discussion Groups
The Brennan Program encourages students to critically engage with the ideas and issues associated with justice. Brennan Discussion Groups provide a forum for Brennan members to discuss increasingly important law reform and justice issues with their peers. This is a great opportunity to meet other like-minded students with an interest in social justice issues.
Discussions include a plethora of topics, such as climate change and environmental reform laws, to Australia’s immigration and asylum seeker policies. The groups comprise of 6-8 students and meet 5 times throughout each session to reflect and discuss different social justice issues. Students can share their experiences and perspectives, assist each other's reading and exploration, and extend the conversation in ways that reflect the particular insights and interests of group members.
Discussion Groups members will accrue 20 ROJ points for submitting 5 X 200 word reflections on their discussions. Groups may decide at the beginning of the session whether they wish to meet online or in person.
If you are a second-year student or above who is looking to get involved with the Brennan Program, you can apply to be a discussion group leader. Leaders will receive 2 LTS hours per week and 25 ROJ points for a 1000-word reflection.
Applications are now open for Spring 2024, apply as a participant and as a leader.
