Since graduating, Melinda has been sculpting out a career working in some of the world’s leading museums including the Art Gallery of NSW, Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) New York and Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art. Melinda decided she wanted to become part of the art world when she was living in Barcelona as part of her International Studies degree. “I was living with a half–English half-Spanish girl who, at the age of 27, opened up her own art gallery in downtown Barcelona. Seeing her in the final stages of building, plus meeting the artists and seeing the art made me think the art world was pretty special.”
Recognising the versatility of her business degree, Melinda decided the best way to crack the cliquey art industry was to use her marketing background. Her first break was working at the Art Gallery of NSW as a volunteer in the marketing department, but this soon led to bigger things when she was accepted for an internship at MoMA in New York. Since MoMA, Melinda has represented our country at the Venice Biennale, one of the biggest and oldest contemporary art exhibitions in the world, and was also involved with the Sydney Biennale.
