Professor Frank Martin AM - Chair
Frank was head of the Department of Ophthalmology at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead for 22 years and is currently a Visiting Medical Officer at the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network (the Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick), as well as at Sydney Eye Hospital.
He is Clinical Professor in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health and Ophthalmology at the University of Sydney.
Frank has published over 40 articles, has written several text book chapters and is a reviewer for the British Journal of Ophthalmology. He was Editor of the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Ophthalmology for 11 years.
Frank is past President of the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology, he is current President of the Children’s Medical Research Institute at Westmead, the International Strabismus Association and the Asia Pacific Society of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. In 2013 he was appointed to the Board of Trustees of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Frank also serves as a director of the Board of the International Council of Ophthalmology and was made an Honorary Professor of the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center Sun Yat-sen University.
Dr Craig Donaldson AM
Dr Donaldson’s specialist qualification in ophthalmology was obtained at the Sydney Eye Hospital and a number of associated hospitals in Sydney and NSW country. Further sub-specialist training in strabismus and paediatric ophthalmology was undertaken at the prestigious Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada.
He is currently involved with registrar and medical student training. He has lectured extensively in Australia and overseas and has numerous peer reviewed publications concerning paediatrics and strabismus.
He acts as the external examiner in General Ophthalmology for the Hong Kong College of Ophthalmology.
Dr Donaldson is a Staff Specialist at Westmead Children’s Hospital and a visiting medical officer at Sydney Children’s as well as Sydney Eye Hospital where he is head of the strabismus unit which services adults and children. He operates privately at Epping Surgery Centre.
Dr Donaldson continues a keen interest in general ophthalmology including cataract surgery as well as his sub-speciality interest in paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus.

Dr Bob Griffits
Dr Robert Griffits consults mainly at Ophthalmic Associates Warners Bay and also some regular sessions at Ophthalmic Associates East Maitland. He is a highly respected local ophthalmologist who has been in practice in Warners Bay for more than 20 years.
He is a past Chair of the NSW branch of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) and had previously served as the Clinical Director of the Department of Ophthalmology at John Hunter Hospital.
He is a current board member of RANZCO. Dr Griffits is a Visiting Medical Officer at John Hunter Hospital and also operates at Kurri Kurri District Hospital and Charlestown Private Hospital. He also performs in-rooms oculoplastics procedures at Ophthalmic Associates Warners Bay.
Dr Christopher Hodge
Chris Hodge is a lecturer and tutor for the Cataract & Refractive Surgery Diploma and provides supervision for medical students. He is a clinical senior lecturer at the University of Sydney and has teaching commitments at other universities.
His interests include cataract surgery, IOL technology and power calculations; laser refractive surgery; corneal disease and bioengineering; visual related signs and symptoms following concussion. His PhD research thesis examined keratoconus in the Australian population. He has published over 120 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters and editorials, and continues to present his research locally and internationally.
He is also clinical research coordinator at Vision Eye Institute.
Dr Yves Kerdraon
Dr Yves Kerdraon is a Sydney-based Ophthalmologist who has a particular interest and sub specialty training in diseases of the cornea and regularly performs corneal transplants, other corneal surgery and complex reconstructions of the eye. Dr Kerdraon also treats patients with eye problems of a more general nature and performs cataract surgery.

Martin is the Head of Medical Affairs for Ophthalmology at Novartis Pharmaceuticals AU/NZ. Since joining in 2013 he has held various medical affairs roles of increasing seniority.
Prior to Novartis Martin was a clinical research orthoptist and researcher with the Macular Research Group at the Save Sight Institute, University of Sydney. Whilst there he completed his MPhil through the University of Sydney School or Medicine focusing his research on clinical causes of macular telangiectasia type 2.
Ms Lindley Leonard

Lindley Leonard graduated from the University of Sydney in 2001 with first class honours. She has been working in the area of paediatrics and strabismus since obtaining her qualification and is currently employed as a senior orthoptist at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Sydney and at The Epping Surgery Centre.
Lindley has been an active member of the profession since graduation with representation on state and federal bodies of Orthoptics Australia, RANZCO Strabismus Society Council and The Agency of Clinical Innovation Orthoptic Standing Committee. Lindley has presented at numerous national conferences and in 2006 and 2015 was awarded the OA Paediatric Orthoptic Award.
Dane Molony

A former graduate of the School of Orthoptics and practice a manager of the Northern Laser Vison Centre, Dane has enjoyed a 15 year career at ZEISS holding sales, training and management positions in both Australia and USA. The last 5 years he been responsible for the ZEISS Medical Division in Australia and New Zealand.
