UTS Startups is the home of entrepreneurship at UTS, inspiring and supporting technology-enabled entrepreneurship at scale in order to drive economic, employment and learning outcomes.

I think the best kind of support entrepreneurs can have consists of two things. First, opportunities to learn from the people they want to become. And second, access to things that are helpful to their staff. I'm Murray Hurps, Director of Entrepreneurship for UTS.

At UTS we have a program called UTS Startups. We're currently supporting 450 startups, and the kind of support we give consists of exactly those two things:

So, opportunities to learn from the people they want to become in: 200 desks of workspace, all the events or the workshops that we run, or the introductions that we do to help bring the right people together.

And access to what people need for their startups. So, free co-working space; free profiling on the busiest street corner in Sydney; help building out your team with UTS students; introductions to investors, customers, talent, researchers, etc. We've been running for three years and we've been open only to UTS students, but I'm pleased to say now that we're open to all UTS alumni as well.

We don't charge for what we do and we don't ask for equity either. So what's the catch? The catch is you need to help us help other entrepreneurs. So we're going to ask you to help with mentoring, with talking about your journey. With running workshops, with giving interns great experiences. But in return, you get helped by hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of other incredible tech entrepreneurs willing to help each other out.
