UTS Wanago is a social justice initiative to address STEM subject access inequalities in NSW high schools. Wanago offers STEM subject opportunities with an aim to assist schools with populations that are underrepresented in STEM careers, such as students from low SES areas, and female students.
What does Wanago offer schools?
Wanago delivers HSC Stage 6 Year 11 and Year 12 NESA STEM curriculum subjects at the UTS campus for students who do not have STEM subjects available through their school. All classes are taught by NESA accredited STEM specialist teachers.
How do students benefit from being part of Wanago?
Students benefit from having lessons conducted in UTS state of the art facilities, with an emphasis on project-based learning. Wanago has regular interaction with academics, STEM industries, and UTS student STEM societies.
Direct entry to UTS offered to Wanago graduates
Wanago students are eligible for direct admission to most UTS undergraduate courses offered by the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology on the following requirements:
- students complete their Higher School Certificate (with a minimum ATAR of 69);
- achieve a result of Band 4 or higher in the HSC subject undertaken through the Wanago Program;
- attend at least 80% of their classes; and
- receive endorsement by the Head Teacher of the Wanago Program.
*Excludes cross faculty combined degrees, the Bachelor of Information Technology scholarship (C10143) and IDeA Cadetship program.

How much does it cost schools to join Wanago?
UTS Wanago is a social justice initiative and offered to NSW high schools free of charge. Wanago will work with schools on a transitional journey to help schools become self-sufficient delivering STEM subjects over the long term.
What kind of schools does Wanago work with?
Wanago enjoys working with a variety of high schools. Currently, we work with public, independent and Catholic high schools.
