A giant in the field of plant biology
Eminent plant molecular biologist, UTS Distinguished Professor Liz Dennis, has been elected to the US National Academy of Sciences, one of the highest international honours a scientist can receive, in recognition of the far-reaching impact of her work in plant biology.
Professor Dennis will be admitted at a ceremony in Washington in April 2022. Only 20 international members are elected annually – with two from Australia announced in 2021 – and new members are selected based on their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research.
Professor Dennis will also receive the prestigious Julian Wells Medal and present the Annual Lecture at the Lorne Genome Conference on 14 February 2022. The medal is awarded to an Australian scientist who has made an outstanding contribution to the understanding organisation and expression of the genome.
