Why would I study sustainability?
Sustainability is the big issue of our time, and its relevance within all aspects of our lives – including the workforce – is only growing. The Bachelor of Sustainability and Environment allows students to pair studies of Sustainability with another professional discipline through a combined degree, equipping them with the understanding of how to apply both skills simultaneously.
What is a combined degree?
This is where you study two degrees with intersecting focuses as part of the same course. Each area of study is enriched by the knowledge, skills and experiences you gain in the other. In the case of the Bachelor of Sustainability and Environment, it means you will earn two degrees in as little as four years.
Why can’t I study the Bachelor of Sustainability and Environment by itself?
We only offer the course as part of a combined degree.
This is because our industry experts advise that students need both depth of knowledge and a broad perspective to be effective sustainability professionals. Sustainability is a consideration for all sorts of organisations, and learning how to apply these skills meaningfully in a professional context and across a range of environments ensures the workforce is presented with capable graduates who are able to address current and future demand and tackle real-world problems.

The Bachelor of Sustainability can be completed alongside one of five other Bachelor degrees:

How long does it take?
These combined degrees typically take four years of full-time study.
What is the subject structure like?
This varies slightly between degrees, but in all cases, you study both courses in tandem.
The Bachelor of Sustainability and Environment has five core subjects, and depending on their professional degree, students will choose subjects from three of four streams:
- Governance
- Society
- Industry
- Science
