UTS Design "Guide to Nature Storytelling: Pandemic Edition"
Zoe Sadokierski and Andrew Burrell, from UTS School of Design – in collaboration with researchers from Taronga Conservation Society and Sydney University – have released a new illustrated 'Guide to Nature Storytelling: The Pandemic Edition'. It's the latest update to their ongoing collaboration, the Urban Field Naturalist Project.
This pandemic edition of the Urban Field Naturalists' Guide to Nature Storytelling is designed to turn your hour of exercise (or anytime!) into an Urban Field Naturalist adventure. It includes tips on writing engaging short stories about your encounters with nature, a collection of writing and sketching exercises, and resources to discover more information and inspiration. The exercises are designed to be done in small groups and are suitable for all ages.
The Urban Field Naturalist Project is a collaboration between researchers from UTS Design, alongside colleagues from Environmental Humanities, and Life and Environmental sciences. The project encourages city dwellers of all ages to engage with local biodiversity by sharing short stories about personal encounters with urban wildlife. These stories can include photographs, drawings, audio recordings or videos as well as writing.
