Broaden the discussion around support
“We need to look at a diversity of ways to support both the industrial research and the commercialisation, as well as providing robust support for fundamental exploratory science,” said Professor Michael Biercuk, CEO and Founder of event co-host Q-CTRL.
“Right now, the government in Australia is pushing very hard on supporting industry-academic collaboration. My personal view is that this is focusing on the means and not the end.
“The end that we want is a vibrant industrial, R&D and technology sector, where science turns into products and outcomes, and I think we've narrowly focused on one mechanism to support that.”
